US imposes sanctions on Russian governor
Treasury says Nabiullina and other officials have facilitated Russian invasion of Ukraine
The US government imposed personal sanctions on Russia’s central bank governor Elvira Nabiullina on September 30 over her role in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The US Treasury included Nabiullina’s name on its updated list of “specially designated nationals” placed under sanctions. It also sanctioned the Bank of Russia’s first deputy governor, Olga Skorobogatova, who oversees Russia’s Mir national payments system, and Russian deputy prime minister Aleksandr Novak.
