Police make further round of arrests over allegations of insider dealing involving central bank

Sri Lankan police arrested a former deputy governor of the country’s central bank on charges connected to the so-called “bond scam”, local media reported.

Paththinige Samarasiri was arrested today (March 25), along with four directors of a company accused of involvement in alleged malpractice connected with central bank-issued bonds. The five arrested men were remanded in custody until April 5, the Sunday Times in Sri Lanka newspaper reported.
