Ajith Nivard Cabraal ‘prevented from leaving the country' as government cracks down on ‘corruption'

A Sri Lankan anti-bribery commission has ordered the confiscation of former central bank governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal's passport amid a government probe into "large-scale" corruption under the previous administration.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, an independent body comprised of former high-ranking justices, sought "to prevent [Cabraal] from leaving the country" and so ordered the seizure of his passport, according to a government statement released
