Hungary chided by ECB over threat to suspend governor

The ECB has reiterated its existing objection to the Magyar Nemzeti Bank's (MNB) current constitution, having been asked to give its opinion on updates to the law underpinning the Hungarian central bank's operation.

The MNB is making amendments to the law that was brought in on October 1, 2013, after the Hungarian Financial Services Authority (HFSA) was closed and its financial stability responsibilities handed to the central bank.
