Hungarian government proposes banking regulator merger
The National Bank of Hungary's (NBH) independence is once again under threat after a parliamentary committee proposed merging the institution with the national regulator.
According to the proposals signed by Salamon László, a member of Hungary's Fidesz party, on Wednesday, a new institution will be created through the merger of the NBH and Pénzügyi Szervezetek Állami Felügyelete (PSZAF).
Under the proposed amendments, the prime minister will name a new head for the organisation with Károly Szász
