‘Neural network’ could help construct early warning systems – Colombian paper
Model can detect identity of bank by analysing features of its balance sheet
A working paper published by the Central Bank of Colombia has developed an artificial "neural network" able to identify a bank by examining the main features of their balance sheets.
Carlos León, José Fernando Moreno and Jorge Cely successfully implemented a pattern-recognition method based on Colombian banks' balance sheet data from 2000–14. Their model shows balance sheets are "unique" and "representative snapshots of banks".
