Payments changing fast but cash still in demand – Riksbank survey
Telephone survey finds cash use declining and mobile payments on the rise
A survey by Sveriges Riksbank finds the country's payments market is changing rapidly, but a large proportion of people still want access to cash.
The central bank conducted around 2,000 telephone interviews for the survey. Mobile payments are rising, particularly among the young and people living in urban areas. Both mobile payments and card payments tend to be higher in groups with higher incomes and levels of education.
Nevertheless, many Swedish people are unwilling to give up on cash
