European Commission floats proposal to cap fees on credit card transactions
The European Commission (EC) yesterday announced a proposal to curb fees on debit and credit card transactions, which it said would benefit consumers and retailers and deliver a boost to the European Union (EU) economy by integrating fragmented payment markets.
The proposal also contained a revision of the Payment Services Directive (PSD2) expected to bring several "important elements and improvements" to the single area payment markets.
