Estonia issues 50 million new coins

The Bank of Estonia has significantly increased the stock of 1- and 2-cent coins in circulation in the country. The central bank will also participate in the production of euro banknotes for the first time this year.

Twenty-five million coins of each denomination worth a total of €750,000 were commissioned by the Estonian central bank. The Royal Dutch Mint won the tender to produce the coins, which entered circulation on May 2.

The central bank said the new coins were released through banks
