Norway to issue new coin to mark universal suffrage

The Norges Bank on March 8 announced its plans to introduce a new commemorative coin to celebrate the centenary of the extension of suffrage to all women.

"Norway was one of the first countries in the world to grant women the right to vote in parliamentary elections," said the central bank.

The decision to allow women to vote was taken in 1913 by the Norwegian parliament. The special 10-krone coin will enter circulation on that day next year. The announcement was made on the day marked around
