Bank of Japan governor urges policymakers to enhance financial inclusion in Asia
In a speech on May 2, Haruhiko Kuroda, governor of the Bank of Japan, pointed out that poverty remains in Asia despite the remarkable growth in per capita GDP in the region during the past 50 years.
“It is more difficult for growth opportunities and benefits to reach people whose residential locations, industries, and skills have not been incorporated into global value chains,” Kuroda said in his keynote speech at the Global Think Tank Summit in Yokohama.
