G20 creates fund to guard against future pandemics
WHO says there is a $10.5 billion annual funding gap
G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting on April 20 pledged to set up a Financial Intermediary Fund (FIF) at the World Bank, to boost the global resilience against pandemics.
“The Indonesian presidency will target the new financial mechanism to be finalised before the G20 health ministerial-level meeting in June,” the G20 said in a statement.
