Bank of England annual report redefines financial stability

The Bank of England (BoE) published its latest annual report yesterday, in which it revealed a subtly different interpretation of financial stability.

The central bank has previously considered financial stability – one of its "core purposes" – to involve "detecting and reducing threats to the financial system as a whole".

Now, however, it has redefined it as "maintaining an efficient flow of funds within the economy and confidence in financial intermediaries".

The annual report also appraised
