BoE statistics show fall in business lending in March

The latest bank lending statistics, released by the Bank of England (BoE) today (May 2), show lending to businesses declined and lending to UK households rose in March.

There was a contraction in the rate of net lending to the UK business sector, with the value of loans to non-financial insititutions declining by £1.7 billion compared with the previous month. Net lending to consumers in March rose by £1.4 billion for the month, which compares with a rise of £1.3 billion for the previous month.
