US economic policy-makers must take measures to support massive investment in the healthcare system and prolonged social distancing, a paper published by the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis says.

Even with those measures, the US healthcare system is likely to be overwhelmed in the coming months, says the paper’s author, Andrew Atkeson.
