Those seeking to explain the productivity slowdown by examining computer prices have failed to grasp the full problem, according to research published by the Federal Reserve.

Earlier research has tended to focus on computers, microprocessors and productivity-enhancing software, while failing to notice the rapid advances in the internet and mobile telephony, the paper says.
