Danish GDP revision helps solve productivity puzzle – bank

Figures better capture details of the current account, central bank finds

Recent substantial revisions to GDP and productivity growth statistics in Denmark help explain puzzling trends observed in recent years, the National Bank of Denmark says in an analytical note today (March 13).

The “extraordinary revision” to statistics in November 2016 focused on the current account, and included for the first time statistics on Danish firms’ foreign trading where goods do not cross the Danish border. As well as adding 50 basis points to average annual growth over the 2010–15
