Policy uncertainty ‘exceptionally high’ – de Guindos

Prudence needed as evaluating likely outcomes “no longer possible”, ECB vice-president says

Uncertainty surrounding global trade and economic policy is “exceptionally high” and warrants prudence and vigilance from officials and market participants, the vice-president of the European Central Bank has said.

Speaking at an event in Amsterdam today (April 3), Luis de Guindos said the world was being reshaped by “significant shifts in geopolitics, international co-operation, global trade policy, financial regulation and the role of crypto assets”.

He noted that uncertainty in the eurozone
