A variety of forces are reshaping Australia's labour market, and both employees and employers need to respond, according to the Reserve Bank of Australia's (RBA) head of economic analysis, Alexandra Heath.

Work in the country has been affected by increasing automation, the decline of industry – though the country recently underwent a mining boom – and the ageing of the population. Routine jobs appear to be on the decline as automation increases, Heath said during a speech in Brisbane, though
