Granular data can help central banks better understand the monetary transmission mechanism, the president of the European Central Bank said today (July 6).

Mario Draghi told an audience in Frankfurt an improved understanding of the functioning of money markets and of the impact of the monetary transmission mechanism on individual sub-sectors of the economy "helps to underpin" the ECB's analysis of unconventional monetary policy tools.
