Sarb governor airs concerns over inflation expectations
Lesetja Kganyago lifts the lid on how the central bank interprets inflation expectations
Inflation expectations five years ahead are "uncomfortably close" to the top end of the South African Reserve Bank's (Sarb's) target range for inflation, governor Lesetja Kganyago said today (August 11).
Kganyago told an audience in Sandton the average five-year inflation expectation in a survey of analysts, business people and trade unionists conducted by the Bureau of Economic Research had ticked up to 6%.
