Sanusi unveils revised Nigerian payments strategy

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, today unveiled details of a revised payments strategy that aims to cut costs and boost the efficiency of Nigerian payments systems.

Delivering the keynote speech at the first day of a conference in Abuja, Sanusi stressed that there had already been significant progress towards modernising payments systems. He highlighted efforts that had reduced cash usage, cut card fraud and produced a "level playing field" to foster payments
