BoJ’s Shirakawa on how to address tail risks

Masaaki Shirakawa, the governor of the Bank of Japan, on Monday emphasised the importance of public sector involvement in addressing tail risks.

At the Annual General Meeting 2011 of the Foreign Bankers' Association in the Netherlands, Shirakawa said: "To address tail risks, while appropriate efforts by individual private business firms and financial institutions are undoubtedly necessary, the role of the authorities is also crucial."
