Bank Negara Malaysia on the future of Islamic finance

Muhammad bin Ibrahim, the assistant governor of Bank Negara Malaysia, on Monday touched on contemporary issues in Islamic finance and equity-based financing. 

The speech, made in Kuala Lumpur, comes as the market for Islamic finance products booms.

According to Ibrahim, Islamic finance was now the fastest growing segment in the global financial industry with assets under management exceeding $1 trillion, and has encouraging signs of development with an average growth rate of 15-20% per year
