Fed’s Duke on lending to small business in the US

Elizabeth Duke, a governor at the Federal Reserve, testified before a hearing of the US Committee on Financial Services and Committee on Small Business.

She discussed the overall state of small business and the causes of reduced lending to them, the improving prospects for such lending in 2010, and the overall safety and soundness of the banking system. Finally, Duke discussed measures taken by the Fed, including recent guidance issued in co-operation with other bank regulators, to ensure that
