Fed's Bies on the Basel II Accord and H.R. 1226

In testimony 'The Basel II Accord and H.R. 1226' given on 11 May Susan Bies of the Federal Reserve said a key US banking regulator is aiming to issue rules implementing an international banking agreement about how much capital banks hold by this fall.

The US recently delayed implementation of the Basel II agreement, which was originally scheduled for mid-2005.

"I hope we can return to the NPR before midyear," Federal Reserve Governor Susan Bies told a House Financial Services subcommittee, "and
