Papua New Guinea's Kamit praises polymer
The benefits of polymer banknotes are their cost-effectiveness, durability and greater ability to withstand counterfeiting, said Wilson Kamit, the governor of the Papua New Guinea.
Kamit said that when the central bank started introducing polymer notes in 1991 it was only the second country outside Australia to adopt the new technology. The central bank has steadily increased the number of denominations issued on polymer substrate since.
