Time for the euro to grow up

At a lecture organised by the Centre for Economic and Policy Research in London today Richard Portes of the London Business School said that it was time for the euro to grow up, for euro authorities to assume more responsibility in the international economy.

While some have accused the euro and the ECB of not punching its weight in the international financial system, for Professor Portes it has yet to enter the ring.

Portes argued that the ECB has struggled to learn how to speak and that it was
