Finance and economics of Papua New Guinea

In a speech at the 38th SEACEN Governor's Conference in Manila in February, the governor of the bank of Papua New Guinea, L Wilson Kamit, CBE, offered his overview of financial and economic developments in the country.

The governor discussed the effects the new Central bank law of June 2000 on the accountability an independence of the institution. Turning to economic conditions the governor noted that economic conditions are anticipated to improve for 2003, with positive real GDP growth
