SA's Mminele on Southern Africa's goals

The Southern African Development Community's goal is to achieve a single currency and a regional central bank by 2018, said Daniel Mminele, an executive general manager of the South African Reserve Bank.

Mminele said that a priority for the region was the development of financial markets and securities systems. He also said that the community's payment system project provided a good platform from which to launch a pilot project focusing on remittances and the possible use of mobile technology for
