State Bank of Pakistan sees financial sector ‘flourish’

Financial stability review highlights record after-tax profit and high capital adequacy ratio

Pakistan's financial sector "flourished" in 2015, despite global challenges, according to the central bank's latest financial stability review, published June 27.

An English summary of the report noted the banking sector posted a record after-tax profit and a "high" capital adequacy ratio. This has "enhanced the overall resilience of the sector", it said.

A "revival" of private sector credit and a "gradual improvement" in asset quality also helped strengthen banks' financial position, the report
