BIS’s Tissot says micro data can plug macro gaps
Micro data contains a lot of potential but is difficult to work with, BIS official says
Micro data can help fill the gaps in macro analysis that came to the fore during the 2008 crisis, the Bank for International Settlements' (BIS) head of statistics, Bruno Tissot, says in a paper published today (May 18).
One of many papers presented at a conference in December 2015, Tissot's contribution notes macro data obscured major imbalances in the run-up to the crisis.
