Buba paper on circulation of German euro banknotes

bundesbank

A Bundesbank paper published on Friday shows the number of Germany-issued euro banknotes outside Germany far outweighs those in circulation outside its borders.

The paper's authors, Nikolaus Bartzsch, Gerhard Rösl and Franz Seitz, use survey data between 2002 and 2009 to examine the volume of euro banknotes issued by Germany in circulation outside its borders. The authors also draw a distinction between banknotes outstanding in non-eurozone countries and those in circulation in other eurozone
