BOE payments review finds scope for cost cutting

A report published by the Bank of England in May provides an overview of liquidity savings in real-time gross settlement systems (RTGS), finding significant opportunities for cost cutting.

The report on real-time payment systems notes that over the past two decades, large value payment systems in many countries have been redesigned so that the payments they process are settled on a 'real-time gross settlement' basis.
