Norges Bank: payment prices should reflect costs

The Norges Bank report published its annual report on payment systems on Thursday. The report said there is more scope for improvement in providing secure and cost-effective payments by reducing the paper trail.

Svein Gjedrem, governor of the Norges Bank, said: "The prices charged for payment services should reflect the cost of producing the services, to a greater extent than is the case at present." This would, he added, "secure a more cost-effective use of resources."
