Finnish housing rebound larger than neighbours'

A report by the Bank of Finland published in April shows that despite subdued lending in euro area housing markets, housing loans issued in Finland grew above the eurozone average in 2009.

According to the report, the stock of housing loans in Finland grew by 6.5% in January, compared to slightly lower than 2% in the euro area. However, growth in the stock of housing loans in Finland was far below levels in Spain and Ireland, who reported growth rates of 25-35% per annum before the crisis.
