J Dewey Daane, a former governor of the Federal Reserve Board, has died at the age of 98, Vanderbilt University announced on January 4. He had been a long-time professor at the university.

Daane, an international monetary expert, described by Vanderbilt as "one of the most esteemed economic minds of the last century", had more than 20 years' public service at the Federal Reserve and International Monetary Fund.
