BoE unveils database of macro-prudential policies

Researchers attempt to classify the myriad forms of macro-prudential policy

The Bank of England (BoE) published a new dataset of macro-prudential policies today (December 2), which researchers hope will allow a more systematic study of the tools in future.

The database was compiled by BoE economists Dennis Reinhardt and Rhiannon Sowerbutts, and is published in Excel and Stata formats, alongside a staff working paper that details the economists' approach. The database includes over 1,400 observations of policy changes across a diverse range of countries.
