National Bank of Romania deputy arrested over corruption claims
Bogdan Olteanu to be held for 24 hours, with the potential for extension, following accusations of €1 million bribe
A National Bank of Romania deputy governor was arrested by the country's National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) following an investigation into bribery allegations relating to his term as speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, it was announced today (July 29).
Bogdan Olteanu will be detained for a period of 24 hours, a statement released by the DNA says. Olteanu served as speaker to the lower house between 2006 and 2008.
