PBoC’s Zhang Tao picked as IMF deputy

Christine Lagarde proposes appointment of Zhang Tao as deputy managing director

People's Bank of China (PBoC) deputy governor Zhang Tao was today (July 8) proposed as deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund by Christine Lagarde.

Zhang began his current role two months ago, having previously served as head of the PBoC's legal affairs department. He is in line to succeed Zhu Min, who steps down on July 25.
