China appoints new deputy governor
Former IMF official appointed to deputy’s role
A former International Monetary Fund official has been appointed a deputy governor at the People's Bank of China (PBoC), an official Chinese government website said today (May 20).
Zhang Tao will join five current deputy governors, serving under governor Zhou Xiaochuan. Zhang formerly served as the IMF's executive director for China, a role he took up in November 2011.
According to a biography on the IMF's website, Zhang also worked at the World Bank from 1995 to 1997, and at the Asian
