The UK government has appointed Sam Woods to take over Andrew Bailey's position at the head of the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA).

Woods is currently executive director for insurance at the PRA, the branch of the Bank of England (BoE) responsible for micro-prudential policy. He will take up the role of deputy governor of the BoE and chief executive of the PRA for a five-year, renewable term when Bailey moves to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) on July 1.
