Bank of Israel smoothes way for new credit card players
Moves to make it easier to enter the merchant acquiring and credit card market
Looking to smooth the path for new entrants into the merchant acquiring and credit card market, the Bank of Israel today (November 17) unveiled plans to ease the process of obtaining the necessary licences and permits.
This builds on the central bank's September announcement that it would seek to separate Isacard and Leumi Card from two of the country's largest banks, Hapoalim and Leumi.
