Buyer sought for RBNZ securities settlement system

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) is looking for buyers for its securities settlement system, NZClear, it announced today (June 2).

NZClear has been operated by the RBNZ since the early 1990s, when a majority of operations were still handled manually, but a review last year concluded securities settlement was not a part of its "core business".

The RBNZ began looking for replacements for both NZClear and its Exchange Settlement Account System (Esas) in December, as a "first step" towards
