ECB concerned by plans for Slovenian central bank law

National assembly will gain greater oversight powers if changes adopted

The European Central Bank (ECB) has raised concerns about a draft law in Slovenia that would give the national assembly the power to fire members of the governing board of the country's central bank.

In February a group of lawmakers proposed changes to the central bank's legal framework, giving the assembly more oversight of the institution and allowing additional national assembly members – beyond the finance minister and a representative of the finance committee – to attend the central bank's
