roberto-gualtieri

Roberto Gualtieri was elected chair of the European Parliament's Econ Committee today, but faced an early test of his composure as the MEPs rejected one of the nominations for vice-chair.

Gualtieri is a member of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D), the second largest political group in parliament, and an associate professor of contemporary history at the Sapienza University of Rome.

He takes over from Sharon Bowles, a UK politician who chaired the committee for five years
