Ukraine parliament appoints new central bank governor
Parliament approves president's request to install Valeria Gontareva
The Ukrainian parliament today passed a bill submitted by the country's new president to name Valeria Gontareva, a senior investment banker who previously worked for ING and Societe Generale's Ukrainian operations, as governor of the central bank.
She replaces Stepan Kubiv, who took on the job in February after the country's government was toppled by popular protests. Kubiv was an opposition MP and one of the protests' key organisers, as well as deputy chair of the parliamentary committee on
