Lautenschläger nominated as SSM vice-chair
The European Central Bank (ECB) today proposed Sabine Lautenschläger as vice-chair of the supervisory board of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) - five days before she even joins the central bank's executive board.
Yves Mersch was initially seen as the forerunner for the job as, alongside Vítor Constâncio, he is responsible for the Banking Union project. The ECB nominated Danièle Nouy as chair in November, but delayed making a decision on which executive board member would join her on the
