Ghana replaces hologram on upgraded banknote

The Bank of Ghana has updated the security features found in the 50 cedi banknote to bolster public confidence in the denomination.

Acting governor of the central bank, Henry Akpenamawu Kofi Wampah announced the introduction of the new note on August 21. He said the decision to upgrade the note was taken to ensure security was not compromised, and "to maintain integrity by avoiding a general loss of confidence in the denomination".
