National Bank of Serbia governor refuses to resign

Dejan Šoškić, the governor of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS), defended himself on Monday against suggestions that a new Serbian government would seek to replace him.

Speaking at a press conference, Šoškić said: "There is no reason for me to resign and I am not considering such a move at all." The governor said the central bank was "often exposed to criticism by both the government and the opposition", but said he had nothing against criticism.
